OUR MISSION
TMR Rescue is home to over 400 rescued donkeys, mules, and horses, both wild and domestic. Our Texas Miracle Ranch is on a mission to change long held misconceptions about longears, and give them back their rightful place in the history books. We provide our equines with their veterinary needs, nutrition, and rehabilitation, as well as providing them with the love and compassion that some of them have never known. We love what we do, and are happy to share our world and our mission with you. Please, enjoy our site and

Welcome
to our home!

HI! I'm new here!
Enjoy!

As with most non-profit equine rescues, the number of animals we are able to help depends so much on funding. With your support in the form of a donation or sponsorship, we can continue to grow and expand. Our residents thank you for your support.

CARL AND KIWI
Carl and Kiwi are both in need of sponsors. Kiwi the lighter donkey was born at the ranch, but Carl was saved in the nick of time from starvation. Kiwi's friendly nature has allowed Carl to learn how to trust again through his example.

Happy 2019! We're excited about our adoption successes. Here's one of many!
Halo’s story:
In the winter of 2011 I was called to assist a family who could not care for their sixty plus donkeys. They had miniatures and standards in all states of health. All were malnourished, and all needed care to rebuild their health. To make matters worse, most of the jennies in this group were also pregnant. This was not an easy rescue. The donkeys were spread out on one hundred acres of mesquite and were quite wild. The owners did not live on the property and claimed they brought the donkeys bread once a week.
Halo was born to her blind mother Marvel not long after her arrival at Texas Miracle Ranch. Marvel did not have a bulge from being pregnant. In fact, she was skin and bones. We were shocked when Halo made her triumphant appearance.
From the beginning, this baby was very curious about humans. She just had to know every move a human made around her. She loved attention from the first day. Her sweet personality actually made it easier to tame her mother, Marvel. Several of the donkeys from this rescue had sight problems which we believe came from living in a mesquite grove and poor nutrition. Halo’s mother learned to follow her daughter, and then soon a jenny named Miracle who had sight left in one eye became her sight buddy.
Halo from the beginning, was a standout. We were able to do so much with this baby that we included her in parades and trips out of town to meet and greet people. Her role was so simple: Help people learn about donkeys and their sweet personalities. She was very successful in drawing people in; what a super star!
Halo has always had a very special place in our hearts. Her beginning may not have been a beginning had we not made the rescue when we did. She was the first baby born to this group of very sickly donkeys, and it is doubtful her blind mother would have fared well in that hostile environment without intervention. So, luck was on her side. Truly, angels were watching her, thus her name Halo.
I am so happy for this sweet donkey. She has a family to call her own. There can be no greater gift than love. Thank you so much, Richard and Stacy for opening your home and hearts to this wonderful donkey. We will miss her. -Marjorie
